Amenorrhoea Blood Test

An at-home blood test exploring reproductive and androgen hormones that may be relevant when periods have stopped.

  • LH: A reproductive hormone involved in ovulation and the menstrual cycle.
  • FSH: A reproductive hormone involved in ovarian function.
  • Prolactin: A hormone that, when elevated, can affect periods and ovulation.
  • Testosterone: An androgen hormone that may be relevant when investigating absent or irregular periods.
  • Oestradiol: Measures the main form of oestrogen produced by the ovaries.
  • SHBG: Measures the protein that binds sex hormones, including testosterone.
  • Free Androgen Index: Estimates biologically available androgen activity.
  • Women whose periods have stopped unexpectedly
  • Those experiencing significant menstrual cycle changes
  • Anyone advised to investigate reproductive or androgen hormones

Collect a small blood sample at home using the finger-prick kit provided, then return it to the laboratory for analysis.

There are many causes of absent periods, and blood testing does not replace medical assessment. If your periods have stopped unexpectedly, please discuss this with your GP or doctor.
